Facing Europe

‘Facing Europe’ explores what happens within our continent through a mixture of European faces and stories. Through these people we get an unexpected picture of our continent; we see how (European) history shapes us on a personal level – and how Europe is being shaped at the same time.

the film is about the drivers, artists, fishermen, students, bar staff, market merchants, farmers and restaurant owners of our continent. These individuals from all walks of life and experiences show a world often overlooked, because it doesn’t link to predominant European stories, which very often deal with fear. Fear of immigration, refugees, fear of failing economic cooperation and fear of losing national sovereignty. But when we look at people on a micro level, these issues often impact them differently.
We also see the effects of recent events in Europe on the daily lives of various individuals and what these effects really mean on a personal level.
